Gratitude and Legacies: Concluding Locals Only 2017-19
May 28, 2019
Today, we held black currant jam tastings using the jam that was made last week. Throughout the day, many interactions included some mentioning of personal stories about jam. Conversations about various types of berry jam occurred. Many people were interested in where we got the black currants. Furthermore, they became interested in other plants and berries that grow locally in Saskatoon. In addition to jam sampling, we shared the process of jam making which sparked conversations about grandmas’, mothers’ and family jam recipes. Jam tasting seemed to create nostalgic conversations about jam, its making process and raw ingredients.
